Our Guiding Virtues

To achieve our mission of educating and nurturing boys who will hand on the torch of life and follow a path guided by our Christian values, we embrace four guiding virtues.

Excellence and Rigour in Teaching and Learning

To shape young minds to be ready to meet the opportunities and challenges of the future.

Integrity and Respect in Character

We inspire each student to seek a life of meaning and purpose.

Humility and Compassion in Service

We develop hearts and minds to consider and care for the wellbeing of others.

Faithfulness and Commitment in Community Life

Our Mission and Guiding Virtues have shaped our philosophy and defined our hopes for our graduates since 1889.

Our Christian Purpose

Shore seeks to upload the Christian faith through the teaching of the Bible and pointing people to Jesus. Since our foundation in 1889, our Christian faith and values at Shore have always steadfastly guided our holistic approach to education and Pastoral Care. As we continuously nurture all the students under our care to reach their full academic potential, we also actively encourage and teach them to learn and apply the virtues of good character.

Our Christian Purpose

Students at Shore will not only learn Christian values through our Chapel services and Christian Studies classes, they will also have many opportunities to see and experience it first-hand through our leading Pastoral Care and Service Learning programmes. These programmes are designed to teach the students - in modern, engaging and meaningful ways - the foundations of good character such as ethical behaviour, moral actions, gratitude, empathy and community service.

Many Shore Old Boys have gone on to hand on the torch of life and serve their families and communities with distinction, from volunteering and fundraising through to pastoral careers and working in the not-for-profit sector. It is our hope that the Christian faith and teachings passed down to our students today will encourage them to preserve their commitment to family and community long into their adult lives.
