Situated in Sydney’s Lower North Shore, our Senior School has educated successive generations of students, coming from all walks of life and going on to serve their families, communities and country with dedication and distinction in the worlds of business, trades, public service, the arts and agribusiness.

Our campus is staffed by passionate, highly qualified education professionals, supported by state-of-the-art classroom spaces, digital learning technologies and Co-Curricular facilities.

The campus is a few minutes’ walk away from nearby North Sydney train station, Victoria Cross Metro station, and the Milsons Point ferry wharf and is well-serviced by numerous bus routes.

Academic Achievement

The School’s curriculum provides both breadth and depth. It is designed to allow a degree of specialisation while keeping options open as the boys discover their individual passions and aptitudes.

Consistent with our determination to help each child attain academic success that is commensurate with their ability, our boys consistently perform well academically.

This is particularly evident in the mid-ability range. The School regularly gets excellent HSC results and, in recent years, our students have been placed in the top ten in the state in a variety of subjects.

Scholarships and Bursaries

Entrance scholarships are awarded each year to a number of boys entering Years 7 and 11 and are allocated after the completion of a competitive examination and an interview with the Headmaster and Deputy Head, Academic. Factors other than purely academic potential may be taken into account. In general, such scholarships are awarded to boys considered to have high academic potential, who will benefit substantially by attending the School, and who will in turn make a significant contribution to the academic life of the School.

Peer Academic Tutoring
Boys in Years 7 and 8 who are experiencing challenges with their learning can be assigned a mentor, one of the senior boys in their house. They will meet regularly to assess progress, review homework, and discuss remedial programmes.

This long-standing system has proven to be a real success, with significant improvement in the younger boys’ skills and confidence and the development of some close and rewarding friendships.

The Study Centre
The Study Centre is open every day after School. Teachers from various subjects post their availability on the School calendar and boys can seek individualised help with their work. This additional support is provided by teachers who are dedicated to helping students make the most of their abilities.

Holiday Workshops
For a small fee, boys in Year 12 can benefit from extra tuition during the School holidays. Our teaching staff run three-hour sessions focusing on specific aspects of various courses. There is also the opportunity to complete practical assignments.

Drop Everything And Read (DEAR)
As reading is crucial to literacy, boys in Year 7 to Year 9 participate in the Drop Everything And Read programme. This entails spending 15 minutes reading a book of their choice in class once a day. Acting as a role model, the Teacher joins them in this activity.

Enrichment Activities

In addition to the High Potential Learners programme for academically gifted students, the School enjoys great success in academic competitions and activities outside the classroom. This encourages the boys to continually raise the bar and face challenges they might not normally encounter.
