As we begin 2025, the English Faculty at Shore is excited to embark on another year of learning, growth, and literary exploration. The start of the year has been dynamic, with students across all year levels eagerly engaging with their new studies. To set the stage for a successful year, each Year Group attended a ‘Launch’ event at the Smith Auditorium, outlining key expectations and goals for their upcoming units.
Teachers have welcomed their new classes, fostering a positive and engaging learning environment from day one. Junior classes have commenced their DEAR (Drop Everything and Read) programme, reinforcing the value of independent reading, and will soon begin their Wide Reading initiative in Week 3, encouraging students to explore diverse texts and develop their literacy skills.
English at Shore offers rich and varied learning opportunities, with students engaging in units on film, poetry, and memoir writing, developing essential analytical, creative, and reflective skills. Meanwhile, our Year 12 students are well underway, having completed their first assessment in Term 4 of 2024 and now progressing into their next unit of study.
We are excited about the learning journey ahead and look forward to seeing students grow as readers, writers, and critical thinkers.
