Inaugural Marty Collins Playoff Cup

18 Mar 2025

Strathfield Golf Club hosted the season finale for the Combined Independent Schools Golf Service, with Shore facing off against St Aloysius’ College for the inaugural Marty Collins Playoff Cup.

This trophy is named in honour of Marty Collins, a teacher from St Ignatius College who retired this year and has convened inter-school golf for over 20 years. His contributions to schoolboy golf over the past two decades have been invaluable and this cup is a fitting tribute to his remarkable efforts.

Shore’s four competitors — Zach (Year 9), Harrison (Golf Captain, Year 12), Archie (Year 11), and Matthew (Year 11) — were supported by the entire squad, highlighting the full team effort that brought us to the final. Every player who competed throughout the season contributed valuable points along the way.

Despite a shaky start, our players in the final demonstrated resilience and determination, and played smart, controlled golf.

The result was a 2-2 overall draw with the Marty Collins Playoff Cup shared by Shore and St Aloysius — an outcome that was a fitting reflection of a very hard-fought contest by both teams.

Shore’s success was exemplified by excellent sportsmanship, teamwork and dedication from every single player. Thank you to our players, coaches, parents and supporters, and congratulations to the team on a wonderful campaign.
