The Shore Boat Club excelled at the Sydney International Regatta Centre during the 128th AAGPS Head of the River Regatta. One of the most memorable experiences for our rowers is being cheered on by our enthusiastic supporters, including staff, parents, students, and alumni.
The Year 10 VIIIs opened the day with standout performances. Our Fourth Year 10 VIII fought hard to secure 2nd place in a thrilling finish. The Third Year 10 VIII demonstrated exceptional focus, clinching victory in a tight battle with Riverview. The Second Year 10 VIII showcased grit, overtaking Riverview in the final stages for an impressive win. While the First Year 10 VIII faced challenges, and ultimately achieved a commendable 4th place.
In the Senior IVs, the Fourth IV dominated with speed and precision, winning by nine seconds and setting a record time of 6:51. The Third IV delivered a nail-biting race, narrowly missing victory against Riverview. The Second IV battled valiantly, finishing 4th despite their season’s ups and downs. Meanwhile, the First IV stunned the audience with a commanding win, setting another record time of 6:36.
The Senior VIIIs provided dramatic races. The Third VIII edged Riverview in a final 500-metre push, ending Riverview’s undefeated streak. The Second VIII demonstrated resilience, overcoming Riverview’s early lead to claim victory with a thrilling comeback. Closing the regatta, the Major Rennie race saw Shore’s First VIII push Riverview in a fierce contest, achieving their season-best time despite Riverview’s win.
The regatta showcased the skill and spirit of every Shore crew. From inspiring comebacks to record-breaking finishes, Shore Boat Club proved their mettle on the water.
