High Potential Learners Programme

26 Jul 2024

At Shore, we are dedicated to nurturing the talents and potential of every child. As the Master in Charge of Shore’s High Potential Learners (HPL) Programme, I am pleased to announce a collaboration with Australian Catholic University (ACU) that offers a unique educational experience for our Year 10 HPL students.

Our partnership with ACU marks a pivotal moment in our journey towards academic enrichment. Through this collaboration, students will be engaging with complex philosophical concepts and completing a University-level Philosophy unit on Plato’s Republic, part of ACU’s liberal arts curriculum in Western Thought. This partnership not only broadens their intellectual horizons but also ignites a passion for learning that will stay with them for life.

This experience aims to go beyond mere academic enrichment; it represents a transformative journey for our students. We are empowering them to think critically, question deeply, and explore the world around them with newfound curiosity.

It’s about more than just acquiring knowledge; it’s about fostering a mindset of continuous growth and self-discovery.

"Reading the most challenging and inspiring works in the humanities, we help students develop their own voice, paying attention to how texts impact them as they read, how their thinking can change through reading... As opposed to asking, "How has the world been?", our students learn to ask, "How else can the world be?", trusting their own reading and sharing in discourse with others." - Associate Professor Andrew Poe, Australian Catholic University.

As the students embark on this journey of intellectual exploration, I am confident that they will emerge not only as scholars but also as visionary leaders who are poised to make a positive impact on society.

Together with our partners at Australian Catholic University, we are laying the foundation for a future where curiosity knows no bounds and the pursuit of knowledge is a lifelong endeavour. This partnership is just the beginning of what promises to be an exciting and enriching journey for our students, and I am honoured to be a part of it.
